The High Court in Suva yesterday found a man guilty of the murder of Nitya Nand a day before Christmas in Samabula, Suva in 2023.
Timoci Matanimeke was convicted for a count each of murder, aggravated robbery and criminal trespass by Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull.
During trial, the court heard of how Matanimeke struck Mr Nand multiple times in the head, face and cheekbones before stealing his Samsung mobile phone and safety boots.
He was caught on CCTV leaving the premises with the items.
Nand was later found sitting in a pool of blood.
In her ruling, Justice Bull said she was satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that Matanimeke committed the crime.
The case has been adjourned to December 18 for a sentencing hearing.
