Court convicts police officer

A SUPERINTENDENT of Police was convicted by the Nadi Magistrates Court for failure to render assistance in the course of investigations by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) on Friday.

Pita Keni was initially charged by FICAC for one count of failure to render assistance and for one count of resisting or obstructing officers.

He was acquitted for the latter.

Keni was represented by lawyer Aman Ravindra Singh.

He had refused to provide information requested by FICAC relevant to a bribery case against former acting Inspector of Police, Timoci Naulu.

Rashmi Aslam appeared for prosecution.
