India’s High Commissioner to Fiji Palaniswamy Subramanyan Karthigeyan has reiterated the importance of the ties between the two nations and the achievements and accomplishments of major projects.
In celebrating India’s Republic Day at the India House on Princess Rd in Suva, Mr Karthigeyan said this special event always brought together different people to remember this significant day in the Indian calendar.
“The year 2023 was also a momentous year for the India-Fiji relationship.
During the year, our close and multifaceted bilateral relations with Fiji received strong momentum and direction from the unprecedented number of high-level engagements,” said Mr Karthigeyan.
He also called on members of the Indian diaspora in Fiji to reach out to them to learn more about their country and to be part of their annual celebrations.
“On this occasion, I would like to encourage the Indian diaspora here in Fiji to engage more with India because not only there’s an emotional connection that we share, but because the focus of the world is strongly on what’s happening in India.”
