Providing services for the underprivileged are part of the council’s development plans, says Lautoka City Council CEO Mohammed Anees Khan .
He told the Lautoka Special School of Education that the council must improve its services for people with disabilities.
“When I joined the council, we brainstormed on how we could better these services,” he said.
“The Lautoka bus stand must have ample wheelchair crossings and there must be access for the disabled within the facilities we create.
“Not only the development approvals that we approve on behalf of the council, but for other private developers. We must ensure these are catered for.”
Mr Khan said the council would assist the special school in ordering refreshments for catering purposes.
“Our partnership is strong,” he said.
