Council launches revised strategic development plan

The Rewa Provincial Council has launched a revised strategic development plan (SDP) for 2025–2028, aligning provincial priorities with national and global development goals.

Council chairman Ro Macanawai Mataitini told the council meeting, the document had been refined to work in tandem with Fiji’s National Development Plan (NDP) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“The Strategic Development Plan (SDP) 2023-2027 for Rewa was refined during the provincial meeting,” Ro Macanawai said.

“Since its launch in 2022, the NDP, we’ve revised the SDP to go in line with the NDP and the SDG, so, it’s now the Rewa SDP 2025–2028.”

He said the changes extended to the village-level planning framework.

“From the revised SDP, we also refined our Integrated Village Development Plan (IVDP) to go in line with the SDP and the term also, from 2025–2028,” he said.

The revised VDP was officially launched at the meeting by Rural and Maritime Development Minister Sakiasi Ditoka. It aims to give all 55 villages in Rewa tailored, community-driven development road-maps based on local consultations.

“So, basically, the provincial office, with assistance of the iTaukei Affairs, going down to the villagers to the turaga ni koro, to discuss the individual village plans,” he said.

“We draw out the development plan for the three years for all the 55 villages of Rewa after consultation with them in the past how many months.”
