ON His Majesty King Charles III’s service as rugby players all the way in Fiji, the British Army 7s team held off a determined Drua 7s team to a 10-all draw in their first pool match at the McDonalds Coral Coast Fiji 7s yesterday.
The British ruggers were tough in their approach, matching the intense physicality brought on by the Drua, amplified by their weeks of off-season and pre-season training ahead of a new season of the 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition.
Manager Warrant Officer Class 2 Vanavasa Bai, a driving force in their opening performance at the Coral Coast 7s was for them to play according to what had been planned out.
”The main message is to play our structure according to the way that we’ve been training for the last few days and also for the last few months, and that was it,” WO2 Bai shared.
Part of their push into this tournament are the unique qualities it boasts and how he says it has become more well known the world over.
”Where else can you play to such a beautiful arena, the Coral Coast, which is now, I believe, becoming more popular all over the world.
”There are a lot of overseas teams that are coming over to enjoy the game itself.”
