A 32-year-old TikToker convicted of breaching bail conditions in his earlier case involving Government Minister Lynda Tabuya has avoided jail time with a suspended sentence.
Lui Bale Vuibureta was sentenced to 12 months and 14 days’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, by Magistrate Lisiate Fotofili who said the sentence was intended to deter similar offending.
Vuibureta was charged with making derogatory and harmful comments about Ms Tabuya during a TikTok livestream on September 14, 2025.
After offending in his first case the Suva Magistrate’s Court had granted him bail on strict conditions, including surrendering his passport, deactivating his social media accounts, and ceasing all TikTok activity.
He breached those conditions by not surrendering his passport, deactivating his social media accounts, and refraining from posting.
Vuibureta had pleaded guilty to three counts of breach of bail.
