FMF Foods Ltd staff members contributed more than $30,000 worth of food to the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management in Suva yesterday.
The company’s business development manager, Jim Taniela, said this was their contribution to relief efforts in Vanuatu following the devastation recently caused by Tropical Cyclone Pam.
“FMF has advised our distributor in Port Vila, Vanuatu to start providing $7000 worth of FMF products to Red Cross when Tropical Cyclone Pam was still on category four,” he said.
The ministry’s acting permanent secretary, Setareki Tale, acknowledged the efforts on behalf of Government.
“This donation will supplement what Government has already collected from communities,” he said.
He said the ministry had goods worth about $230,000 that was ready to be shipped to Vanuatu with the complement of Pacific Agencies (Fiji) Ltd, a subsidiary of Swire Shipping.
