The Constitution Day public holiday declared and enacted by the FijiFirst government is no longer recognised.
The Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations has advised all employers, workers, and members of the general public that the previous Constitution Day is not a public holiday.
A Government statement noted it was not declared as a 2023 public holiday as published in the gazette notice dated Monday, March 20, 2023.
The Coalition Government has declared the following days only to be the public holidays for 2023:
- New Year’s Day – Monday, January 2
- Good Friday – Friday, April 7
- Easter Saturday – Saturday, April 8
- Easter Monday – Monday, April 10
- Girmit Day – Monday, May 15
- Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna Day – Monday, May 29
- Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday – Monday, October 2
- Fiji Day – Tuesday, October 10
- Diwali – Monday, November 13
- Christmas Day – Monday, December 25, and
- Boxing Day – Tuesday, December 26.
