The Fiji Police Force’s passing-out parade marked a proud and emotional milestone for Constable Steven Bolaitamana who received the Baton of Honour, awarded to the best all-round recruit of the course.
The 25-year-old from Yaroi, Moala, Lau, with maternal links to Kororerega, Vaturova, Cakadrove, said the achievement carried a deep personal meaning.
His father was also a recipient of the Baton of Honour, making the moment a rare continuation of family legacy within the force.
“I grew up watching my father, he was in the Fiji Police, he was also a TF (Territorial Force) in the RFMF and a corrections officer,” Constable Steven said.
He said police training was mentally and physically demanding but it played a crucial role in shaping his character.
He says discipline, though simple in principle, is central to performing duties with excellence, integrity, and professionalism.
He said joining the police force had been his childhood dream.
