Fijians in the Middle East are being encouraged to voluntarily evacuate as soon as practical.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade issued the advisory following an agreement between the United States and Iran to cease hostilities for a period of two weeks.
However, the ministry cautioned that the situation could escalate without warning during this time, noting that the broader regional security environment remains fluid and unpredictable.
“The prevailing conflict may cause widespread travel disruptions, including extensive restrictions to movements,” the ministry stated.
“Travel plans for Fijian nationals may be affected, even if your destination is not the Middle East region.
“Fijian nationals are encouraged to consider voluntary evacuation from affected areas as soon as practical.”
Those choosing to remain are advised to follow directives from local authorities and avoid high-risk locations.
The ministry also encouraged families in Fiji to maintain regular contact with relatives in the Gulf region to stay updated on their safety.
Officials said they would continue to closely monitor developments and were working with Fiji’s diplomatic missions to ensure the welfare of all Fijian nationals in the region.
The ministry reiterated that Fijians should avoid all travel, including transit, to Level 4 countries, Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen and avoid non-essential travel to Level 3 destinations such as Jordan, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
