Labasa resident Paul Jaduram is concerned about the regular power outages in the northern town, especially on Sundays.
He said the situation had become a norm and was affecting the daily lives of residents.
“Every Sunday we face power cuts,” he said.
“It’s now expected, and that’s not a good sign.”
Mr Jaduram urged Energy Fiji Ltd (EFL) to look into the matter seriously and find long-term solutions.
In response, EFL technician Ravneel Prasad said power outages were often planned and necessary, saying the public have always been given advance notice to prepare for interruptions.
“We send out advisories days before any scheduled outage,” he said.
Mr Prasad said maintenance works were important to keep the power system running efficiently.
“Sometimes technical faults occur that are beyond our control, but we work to fix them as quickly as possible,” he added.
While EFL has assured the public of timely updates and quick responses, residents hope for fewer disruptions in the future.
