SINCE their inception in 1957, Paradise Beverages Fiji has transformed over the years into becoming one of the country’s leading manufacturer of alcoholic beverages in Fiji.
Sixty years into their operations this year, the company formerly known as Foster’s Group Pacific Ltd, last Saturday celebrated their milestone achievements, developments and journey over the years.
From humble beginnings to now with a consolidated beverage portfolio in local and regional markets, Paradise Beverages’ products have also become a household name with their renowned brands.
Speaking during the celebrations at the brewery in Walu Bay Suva, company general manager Mike Spencer reiterated the importance of appreciating the past, valuing the present and embracing their aspirations for the future.
“In August 1957, 60 years ago, our business was established. The first keg of Fiji Bitter beer was produced in the very location that is still our Suva brewery,” Mr Spencer said.
“Sixty years on we’re still on the same block of land, we still have Fiji Bitter, but we have a lot more too.
“Our business has changed significantly over the years. We have had a number of company names and changed ownership several times, with the latest change being in 2012 when we were acquired by Amatil.”
The public listed company changed its name to Paradise Beverages (Fiji) Ltd in 2012 after it became a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Amatil (Fiji) Ltd.
“With our rich history and unrivalled brand portfolio, and our greatest asset, over 300 fantastic people, it is only fitting that we take the time to celebrate our journey, the progress we have made and the success we have achieved,” Mr Spencer said.
Coinciding with its 60th anniversary, Paradise Beverages also released a limited edition 440ml Fiji Bitter memorabilia can to mark the occasion.
This is a 6 per cent alcohol volume beer that acknowledges the brewery’s roots and its continuing innovation in the world of high quality beer brewing.
According to a long time and eminent employee of the company and head of sales and corporate affairs Joe Rodan, there has been tremendous amount of progress with their brands particularly Fiji Bitter Beer, during his 29 years with the company.
“Fiji Bitter continues to be the iconic beer that everyone knows it to be and with the release of the new 6 per cent can, it can only get bigger and better,” Mr Rodan said.
The event was attended by the company’s management, staff, corporate partners and clients.
