THE new Companies Act 2015 that came into effect from January 1, 2016, is expected to benefit the country.
This is one of the laws that is believed to modernise company law in Fiji which has languished for decades.
The Act was published in a Government gazette on January 27, 2016. However, the date of publication was listed as December 30, 2016.
In the gazette, the Companies Act was listed as being brought into force on January 1, but the January 26 edition had numerous corrections from the previous Act.
In an extraordinary Government gazette supplement dated Wednesday December 30, 2016, the commencement notice on the printing errors and omissions in the Companies Act 2015 are rectified as follows;
