As many as 875 students of Suva Grammar School successfully participated in their cadet passing-out parade at Suva’s Albert Park yesterday.
They braved the heat to demonstrate the disciplined training learned over the past few weeks.
Family, friends, and loved ones gathered in numbers to witness the occasion.
Chief guest RFMF Human Resources director Colonel Jofiliti Gadevulatolu Talemaibau, who reviewed the parade, commended the cadet corp for the excellent and exceptional performance on display through their professional drill movements and discipline.
“You are the tools of which our beloved Fiji’s future will be rested upon,” Col Talemaibau said while addressing them.
“Not only do we need to strive for excellence academically but also develop a sense of maturity to perform exceptionally.”
He said cadet training was meant to instil discipline and teamwork.
“A disciplined upbringing will carry you a long way in life and preserve you through the challenges that we now encounter in the environment.
“We need a drug-free Fiji in order to build a robust future for our children and their children who will follow them.
“The champion edge is not gifted by birth, a high IQ, or talent; the champion edge is all in the attitude.”
He added the Ministry of Education was committed to providing a better education system, which called for a collaborative effort.
