Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Officers Training School Commandant Colonel Silipa Vananalagi has been appointed the Military and Police Advisor (MPA) at Fiji’s Mission to the United Nations in New York.
And Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew has expressed the Force’s best wishes to Colonel Vananalagi during her tenure.
Yesterday, Mr Chew met Col Vananalagi where discussions were held around the peacekeeping work conducted by the Fiji Police Force.
He said regional efforts in assisting Pacific law enforcement partners with UN deployment was also discussed as the Force reaffirmed its commitment to being the region’s hub of UN Police peacekeeping training.
“Twenty-six officers are presently serving in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), and deployment is also significant as it marked the FPFs largest deployment of women officers,” Mr Chew said.
He said another officer was deployed under the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) in Sinai.
The Acting ComPol added the Force appreciated the support of Fiji’s MPA in lobbying and supporting the organisation’s peacekeeping campaign from the deployment of officers, to the facilitation of UN peacekeeping in-country training.
Col Vananalagi assured the continuation of work of outgoing Lieutenant Colonel Neumi Vakadewabuka in supporting the FPFs UN peacekeeping campaigns, not only for Fiji Police officers but for its regional partners.
