Cokanasiga thanks Fijian fans

DEUBA, Serua native Joe Cokanasiga is thankful to all the fans in the country who have been supporting him in his rugby career in England.

Joe, 22, arrived in the country yesterday with younger brother Philip to attend their sister’s wedding at the Novotel Hotel in Lami on Saturday.

Joe was one of the few youngsters named by England coach Eddie Jones for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

The powerful Bath winger scored two tries in the RWC match against the United States of America but did not feature in the matches against Tonga, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa because of a serious knee injury.

Joe said he had good year despite so many things happening.

“I’m here for my sister’s wedding,” he said.

“So just relaxing and then go back to work when it is time.

“I was last here in 2013 so it has been a long time coming back. It is good to back here to see my family so I’m very excited.

“I’m thankful to all the Fijian people who supporting me over here. Definitely they have helped me.

“I thank my family and God for everything that has happened.

“I’m grateful for what all has happened in my life.

“It was my first RWC and it’s a once of a lifetime opportunity and I took the opportunity with both hands.”

Joe’s brother Philip is budding star and is part of the England under-18 squad.

Joe said he would like to follow through from last season with his main focus to continue with Bath Rugby.
