A WINNING culture built on accountability and a strong return on investment will be the key performance measure as the Fiji Rugby Union begins its search for a new FIJI Water Flying Fijians head coach.
Fiji Rugby Union board chairman John Sanday said the Flying Fijians were the organisation’s flagship business asset and the new coach would be expected to deliver wins and consistency while helping elevate the Fiji Rugby brand globally.
“The Board has set clear goals and expectations of the performance standards required,” Sunday said.
“The Flying Fijians is Fiji Rugby’s flagship business asset and we are expecting wins and consistency to support brand elevation globally.
“A strong work ethic centred around accountability plus return on investment are the key performance metrics we will be pushing. We want a winning culture, simple as that.”
The head coach position has been advertised as part of a global search being conducted by an overseas professional recruitment firm.
The firm will evaluate the applications before candidates are considered by the selection panel.
Sunday said the process was open to all eligible applicants, including interim Flying Fijians coach Senirusi Seruvakula and newly appointed Fijian Drua head coach Brad Mooar.
“Senirusi is free to submit an application,” Sunday said.
“The same applies to Brad Mooar, anyone can apply.”
Seruvakula was appointed on a temporary basis before the Flying Fijians’ Nations Cup matches in July, with the FRU now proceeding with the recruitment process as it looks towards the 2027 Rugby World Cup and beyond.
Sunday said past performance would not necessarily determine the outcome, with all applications to be assessed on their strengths and how they fit Fiji Rugby’s expectations.
The successful candidate will therefore be expected to deliver more than results, with accountability, consistency, a strong work ethic and return on investment forming the foundation of the board’s expectations.
With the 2027 Rugby World Cup approaching, the FRU wants the Flying Fijians to establish a sustained winning culture and strengthen Fiji Rugby’s global brand.
