Coach back for world champs

FIJI bowls coach Robbie Dobbins will be in the country from next weekend to guide the national side in preparations for the 2016 World Championship in New Zealand.

There will be camps held over two weekends.

National men’s bowls manager Curtis Mar said players who did not have work commitments would be part of the camp.

“All the players have been doing their individual drills set up by the national coach,” Curtis said.

“He will have an opportunity to see what levels of improvements that the players have made since the last time he was here.

“We have six men and six women and the coach will be looking to finalise the final squad over the next month.”

The World Bowls Championship will be held in Christchurch from November 29 to December 11.

“It will see the best international bowlers battling it out across the Burnside, Fendalton and Papanui greens in pursuit of victory.

The championship will witness the top 31 qualified countries to compete across the four disciplines of singles, pairs, triples and fours.
