The efforts and contributions of the Grasshoppers, Lomaiviti and Tagimoucia netball clubs in having their players be part of the Fiji Baby Pearls team to the 2025 Netball Youth World Cup in Gibraltar has been commended by Suva Netball Association president Alumeci Sachs.
The six players from Suva Netball that are part of the national team were chosen from the three clubs.
They are Akisi Bolakoro, Anatolia Nuku, Susana Rasaubale, Mereoni Taqiri, Lydia Tavesivesi and Adi Varanisese Vula.
Sachs expressed her gratitude for the work carried out by the three clubs, affiliated with Suva Netball.
“We appreciate their efforts, their contributions towards the uplifting and enhancing of netball skills of the girls,” Sachs shared recently.
She added the clubs’ efforts towards ensuring the girls were physically, mentally and spiritually prepared had played a key role in ensuring they were picked for national representation.
Sachs also mentioned the essence of family support for the six players as well.
She acknowledged them for their support of the girls and how their presence in the progress of their children through the sport over the years had proven timely with their selection for the Baby Pearls.
“Without parental support, the girls wouldn’t do well and we acknowledge the parents’ support towards the girls and their families, their teammates,” she said.
“They’ve been playing together from their clubs ever since they were young and we’ve seen them nurtured throughout the years.
“And we’re happy to see that they have made it to the top 12 for Fiji to be selected for the World Cup in Gibraltar.”
The Netball Youth World Cup takes place from Friday, September 19 to Monday, September 28.
