Tide Tribe Malolo claimed their first victory of the 2024 Skipper Cup season with a thrilling 43-33 win over Vinod Patel Ba at Yawini Park, Mana Island, yesterday.

In front of a lively crowd that included locals and tourists, Malolo capitalised on their home ground advantage, dominating early to lead 31-14 at halftime.

The hosts showed attacking flair and solid defence in the opening 40 minutes, punishing Ba with quick ball movement and clinical finishes.

Despite Malolo’s strong start, Ba regrouped in the second spell and mounted a late comeback, scoring 19 points to narrow the gap, but it wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit.

In the U20 curtain-raiser, Fiji Pine Ba U20 side defeated Malolo U20 convincingly, 31-19.
