CURRENT and former district reps are participating in the week-long FIFA youth coaches workshop which started at the Fiji Football Association academy in Ba yesterday.
Former Labasa reps Solomone Catarogo and Dhiren Chand, together with district reps Pita Bolaitoga (Labasa), Pita Rabo (Suva), Maciu Dunadamu (Suva), Peni Finau (Lautoka), Keni Doidoi (Tailevu Naitasiri) and Fiji FA development officer and former Ba rep Epeli Codro are amongst the participants.
Fiji FA head coach Frank Farina officially opened the workshop.
Oceania Football Confederation consultant Giovani Fernandos is the chief instructor at the workshop.
Fiji under-17 head selector Shalen Lal, who is also one of the participants, said the inclusion of the rep players was a positive sign.
Lal, who is on track to become the next B License coach in the country said these players had a vast knowledge being involved in the sport for a long time.
“It is a big step forward for them,” he said.
“They have been playing for a long time and coaching is well suited for them. The development centres have been set up together with the centres of excellence where they can offer their services,” Lal added.
