Classic Buses Ltd says it is fully cooperating with authorities and conducting its own internal review following this morning’s bus accident in Denarau, Nadi, which left 50 passengers injured.

In a statement, the company confirmed that one of its staff buses contracted for Sheraton was involved in the incident, which saw the vehicle veer off a bridge and land on its side in a swamp.

“Several passengers sustained injuries and were immediately transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment,” Classic Buses said.

“Our foremost priority has been the safety and well-being of all passengers and staff. Company representatives were on site promptly to assist emergency services and ensure that every injured person received immediate care.”

The company said it maintains strict safety procedures and regular maintenance checks across its fleet, and that all drivers undergo continuous training to uphold responsible driving standards.

However, Classic Buses acknowledged that despite its commitment to safety, unexpected incidents can still occur.

“Accidents, though unfortunate, can occur despite every precaution taken, and our focus now is on supporting those affected and preventing future incidents,” the company said.

Classic Buses also appealed to the public to avoid sharing unverified or speculative comments about the accident on social media, emphasizing that its priority is the welfare of the injured and ensuring all safety protocols are reviewed.

“We remain fully committed to the safety, comfort, and trust of the thousands of passengers who travel with us daily.”

Police confirmed that the bus was heading towards a hotel in Denarau when the accident occurred around 7:50am. Forty-three passengers were taken to Zens Medical Hospital, while seven were transported to Nadi Hospital. Investigations continue.
