The Lautoka City Council has issued a stop-work notice on Grace Road’s Vitogo, Lautoka property where a supermarket and service station are operating.

Council CEO Mohammed Anees Khan, in a letter on February 7, said the company was required to obtain a set of documents so the council could re-submit the detailed building application to the Department of Town and Country Planning for consent.

“Currently, the drainage out fall from the development is discharging to mataqali land which is outside the bounds of the development site. Hence, causing flooding to the settlement at the rear of the said site,” Mr Khan said.

“The iTaukei Land Trust Board to be consulted to formalise this storm water outfall with drainage thereafter. Otherwise, the storm water drainage of the development to be re-diverted to a legal drainage easement.

“The Fiji Roads Authority had agreed in principle to allow exit on Kings Rd with left turn only. This shall follow suit with submission of revised subdivision scheme and site set-out plan,” he said.

“The consent of Fiji Sugar Corporation shall be furnished for construction of driveway access over the tramline reserve.”

Mr Khan said Grace Road was required to furnish the documents within seven days from the date of the letter.

“Failure to achieve the above within the specified time, Grace Road Trading Pte. Ltd shall cease all construction and business operations on the site forthwith.”

Questions sent to Grace Road last Friday and yesterday remained unanswered.
