PARISHIONERS from nine parishes of the Catholic Church in Fiji gathered at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Suva on Friday night to share in the spirit of Christmas.
The church stages Christmas carol singing events at the Sacred Heart Cathedral annually ahead of Christmas.
Organiser Petero Ratucove said many times people had forgotten about the true meaning of Christmas and people should know that the greatest love was that of Christ sacrificing his life to redeem humankind.
“Jesus is the reason for the season and all Christmas get-togethers must be centred around this fact,” he said.
“This concert, which is an annual event, is held to remind members of the parishes of this truth and to spread the true meaning of Christmas.
“It is important to redirect people’s attention to Christ.
“Christmas without Jesus is not Christmas at all.
“Love was born on earth on Christmas Day and where there is love there is Christmas.”
