Development of the church community is essentially important as it is in line with this year’s theme ‘Moving Christ’s Church to another level’, says Methodist Church in Fiji president the Reverend Dr Semisi Turagavou.
Speaking during the annual church conference at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, Dr Turagavou said they must look at opportunities and avenues to strengthen economic status.
“It is time to empower and strengthen the source of the current economic circumstances ensuring sustainable position,” he said.
“Therefore, we need to focus on economic growth and sustainability through asset development and investment.
“This initiative may see the church cease to rely on members and on the pockets of church members. It is thus advisable to look at other avenues of the church economy and its process that will ensure sustainability.
“This is our time. We need to think strategically and outside the box and we believe in a moving God.”
He called on ministers and stewards to rise to another level and strategically and constructively help in building Christ’s church.
Dr Turagavou reiterated the need to have a sustainable growth in the church.
“The church is actually moving towards a strong and sustainable growth trajectory,” he said.
“We’ve come a long way since the inception. We have an abundance of resources so the question of the day is, can we rise from the current status of spiritual fiscal analysis to another level?”
