PRELIMINARY works are in progress on a portion of land owned by the Assemblies of God (AOG) church and earmarked for the development of the AOG City.
AOG general secretary Reverend Filikesa Koroivueta said this was one of the major projects discussed at an executive level meeting of the church’s general conference held at the Mount Zion Cathedral in Lautoka this week.
Mr Koroivueta confirmed the 17-acre parcel of land is located at Koronivia near Nausori.
“That piece of land was given to us some time ago,” Mr Koroivueta said.
“We have not done anything about it. However, we’ve confirmed with the landowners our intention to use it. We would love to develop that place as well,” Mr Koroivueta said.
He said the Mount Zion Cathedral in Lautoka could not cater for the influx of members attending the general conference this week.
“So, we would love to build a big meeting place for that matter and all other things.
“Right now, we have not gone right into the cost. It’s just preliminary work, just to survey it first.”
Mr Koroivueta said the land was classified as an agricultural lease, however, discussions were in progress to convert it for commercial purposes.
“The Fiji College of Agriculture used it for grazing of cattle. so, there’ll be much development on it.”
