COVID-19 has taught us to value each other above everything else, says Nasamila District School teacher Dianna Marriet.
She made the comment as her family spent Christmas at Kiuva beach, Nasilai.
The 32-year-old said she and her family relocated to the Nasamila District School teachers quarters on Friday after she was transferred from her previous posting.
She said they could not resist coming to the beach with their lunch as it was just situated just behind their quarters.
“We shifted here on Friday so we thought of giving it a try and spending Christmas at the beach with my small family,” Ms Marriet said.
“It’s my first Christmas at Nasamila with my family.
“What else can we ask for when we have a beach just behind our house.
“COVID-19 has taught us a lot of lessons. It has reunited family members by bringing them to work together to survive – even though some had lost their jobs and even though some families were struggling.”
Ms Marriet said this festive season was an opportune time for people to reflect on their struggles over the past two years and to celebrate with their families.
