The Lau Education Charitable Trust recently launched its social media platform beginning its drive for a new globally funded education initiative for children in the remote islands of the Lau group.
The social media platform was launched by co-patrons of the Trust, Adi Davila Toganivalu (nee Uluilakeba) and Adi Elenoa Tuilau Mara, both from the chiefly Vuanirewa clan of the Tui Nayau in Lau.
“As patron of the newly formed Lau Education Charitable Trust with my niece Adi Tuilau Mara, I have great pleasure in introducing this global initiative for the benefit of the children of Lau province” said Adi Davila.
Co-patron, Adi Tuilau Mara launched the social media platform saying, “As co-patron of the Lau Education Fund, it gives me great pleasure to declare the Facebook page of the Lau Education Charitable Trust open.”
“We look forward to supporting the Trust in its quest to help improve access to quality education for our children of Lau” says Adi Tui Lau.
The overarching vision of the Lau Education Charitable Trust is for all children of Lau to attain an excellent education. Its mission of implementing sustainable programs to improve access to quality education supports the vision.
The trust is registered in Australia and the board of directors comprises a diverse team of Lauan professionals based in Fiji, New Zealand, China, Australia, Turkey, USA and the Marshall Islands.
Chairman of the Board of Directors, Peni Toga Kacimaiwai from the Tui Devo clan of Salia, Nayau said “Building on existing foundations, the Trust will complement the good work that is already in place. Furthermore, it aims to lift current standards, enhance outcomes and achieve excellence.
