EXCITEMENT set in for students around the Levuka area when news of the Fijian Drua’s community blitz on Ovalau Island was relayed to them.
This, according to Marist Convent Primary School teacher Lilieta Vidali, who was present at the club’s second and final community blitz at Nasau Park yesterday.
“We are super excited to have the squad with us. I guess it’s the first of its kind to happen on the island, and we’ve always been watching the Drua players on TV, but seeing them face-to-face has really brought a lot of excitement to the children,” Vidali shared.
She added with their visit to the students from ten schools in the Levuka area, it would greatly boost their morale.
“I know this will help the children look forward to something better in life, we are grateful they (Fijian Drua) gave their time to come and give coaching tips to teachers who are also involved with rugby out here.
“It will sharpen our coaching skills too, and how to coach the teams of Ovalau better in the future.”
The ten participating schools in the Levuka community blitz were Ratu Seru Memorial Primary School, St. John’s College, Taviya District School, Rukuruku Primary School, Marist Convent Primary School, Levuka Public Primary School, Levuka Public School, Delana Primary School, Delana Secondary School and St. James Primary School.
The community blitz on Ovalau ended yesterday, after it began on Wednesday with a visit to the Pacific Fishing Company and to Wainaloka.
