Chiefs installed

HISTORY was created on Thursday as the people of Tunuloa witnessed the installation of three chiefly titles within the district by Cakaudrove chief Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.

The rain that fell in the district failed to deter people as they gathered at the Koroivonu hall to witness the event some said was long overdue.

As foretold by the Cakaudrove high chief, the rain through the whole district in the morning abated during the traditional installation while it drizzled straight after the installation signifying heavens blessing or uca tau muri.

Three titles including that of the Maikavula-traditional herald of the Tui Cakau, Tui Nukurua — masi tabu of Cakaudrove and the Tui Tunuloa were traditionally installed during the event.

Speaking after the installation the new Tui Tunuloa — Ratu Karalo Maibuca said he was ready to serve the people of his district.

Ratu Karalo said the title meant that he was now a servant to his people.

He called on the people of Tunuloa around the country to support and pray for him as he strived to perform his roles.

The newly installed Maikavula Ratu Isimeli Bainimara said he was proud to be the herald of the Tui Cakau.

Ratu Isimeli said the title came with its responsibilities and he prayed for God to give him the strength to perform them with diligence.

The new Tui Nukurua Anasa Tabualevu said he was ready to perform his role as the personal caretaker of the Tui Cakau.

The three titles were installed by the Tui Cakau Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu and the chiefly clan of Lalagavesi in a moving ceremony on Thursday.
