BOOSTING iTaukei businesses and protecting natural resources topped discussions at the Bose ni Vanua meeting in Yasawa yesterday, said Tui Drola Ratu Manasa Naikasowalu.

In an interview, Ratu Manasa said it was important for indigenous Fijians to save money and invest for the future.

“We have important topics to discuss. Firstly, the bilo ni vanua (chiefs), for them to take back information and advise people on investing in business,” he said.

“Also, the protection of their natural resources, especially in the yasana vakaturaga o Ba. The bose ni vanua needs to encourage people to save money and invest.”

He commended NGO Vinaka Fiji for supporting the Bose ni Yasana o Ba 2025, including renovations to the village hall for the meeting.

“We acknowledge Vinaka Fiji for helping us with the renovation of our village hall for this meeting. Also, we have the team from the Water Authority of Fiji and Rural Electrification, including the iTaukei Affairs Ministry staff. In terms of providing electricity, the rural electrification team has installed solar lights in the village. Right now, the vanua is ready to welcome the delegates, including the bilo ni vanua (chiefs) and those who will be part of the four-day meeting.”
