Twelve-year-old Damon Chen once again proved himself in the amateur golf arena by taking the top prize in the overall nett category during the FSC Ba Golf Club Ratu Sukuna Cup last Friday.
The Year 8 student at St Theresa Primary School in Ba recently won the Golf Fiji Championship junior division at Denarau Golf Club.
Last week, he clinched the overall nett for combined divisions.
“I really played good in the nice weather condition.
“Winning the overall nett for combined division is a huge achievement for me,” Chen said.
Despite playing golf for just one and a half years, Chen has consistently won top prizes in Golf Fiji competitions, making him a promising young golfer to watch.
“It’s just my physical and mental game, and in golf, you need to be strong mentally,” he added.
Junior division winner Prakit Naidu credited his success to his support system.
“I give all credit to my instructor Asish Chand, all the committee members who supported me, it was a good game.”
The event showcased the talents of young golfers such as Chen and Naidu, highlighting the promising future for golf in Fiji.
