Over 100 golfers including the Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka was part of a good cause, participating in the St John Ambulance Charity Golf in Vatuwaqa, Suva.
The vision of the one-day competition which was revived only last year after a lapse of so many years was to fundraise for the organisation.
St John council member Isoa Gavidi said while it is a social event, the vision behind it will help the non-profit organisation.
“St John is charity, its vision is to serve humanity, specifically to provide ambulance services, to provide training for first aid and most of our costs are from fundraising. We’ve got a grant from government, but it is not enough, so we must continue to fundraise.
Because I am a golfer and it is easier to raise funds in events like this then in any other game and also because a lot of businesspeople play this game so there’s likely to be better contributions from the companies,” he said.
The charity golf, sponsored by B. Prasad & Sons Pte Ltd, is an ambrose event
The team that wins the event will secure four return tickets to any destination on the Fiji Airways.
