Caritas Fiji, in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Suva, successfully completed the Mixed Scramble Golf Charity Tournament in Suva on Saturday.

The event was formally opened by His Grace, Archbishop Peter Loy Chong, who expressed his sincere gratitude to all the business houses, the teams, and players who came out in numbers to support this worthy cause.

The Archbishop said the tournament was not only about swinging clubs but also swinging hearts for charity.

“We are thankful to Almighty God for the truly magnificent weather. You couldn’t have asked for a better golf day than it is today”, Fr. Ioane Sigarara, the Episcopal Vicar for Caritas Fiji said.

“We received a great response from our Corporate Sponsors and the teams who came out in numbers to swing for charity’.

The proceeds from this event will go towards funding Caritas Fiji with their outreach programs such as disaster management, water and sanitation, and the other operations that are run by the Catholic church which involves Ra Maternity, Father Law Home, and works around ecological justice.

Plans are underway for a bigger and better event next year, moving venues to Denarau, and Nadi, and a much bigger turnout as business houses have shown interest in support.
