A massive turnout of 136 players took part in the Fiji Society for the Blind Charity Golf Tournament last Saturday, proudly hosted by the Pirates Golf Club at the Fiji Golf Club in Suva.
In addition to the action on the fairways, the Society offered free eye screenings for players throughout the day — a timely reminder of the vital cause behind the event.
The day also featured a lively charity auction, with standout items including a luxury bed donated by Comfort Home, a signed and Picture Perfect framed Drua rugby jersey, and resort stays generously contributed by Castaway Island and the Pearl. A well-supported raffle draw further boosted fundraising efforts, with prizes donated by a wide range of supportive businesses and individuals.
“It was more than just a golf day — it was the community coming together to help others see a better future,” said Tournament Controller Susie Yee.
The winning team, DMC — made up of Mahmood Buksh, Rajesh Kumar, Janen Prasad and Laisa Digitaki – posted an impressive 56 points to take home top honours and bragging rights for 2025.
Following the prize-giving, players enjoyed a well-earned dinner generously sponsored by BSP, rounding off a day filled with competition, camaraderie, and community spirit.
“On behalf of the Society, thank you to all our sponsors, players, and volunteers,” said Executive Director Barbara Farouk. “Your support means everything to us.”
Over $30,000.00 was raised, every dollar going directly to the Society’s vital work supporting the visually impaired.
