As weather clears up following the impact of Tropical Cyclone Vaianu, one man waiting for the weekend to unfold is Swire Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Glen Jackson.

Jackson and his team face the Western Force in Lautoka and with the way the week has progressed because of inclement weather affecting Viti Levu, he said plans not unfolding in its proper form this week have excited him.

“It excites me when things aren’t quite right with our week,” Jackson told this newspaper in a virtual press conference yesterday.

“I think sometimes that’s an exciting thing for our boys and for any Fijian; a bit of variations — bloody good,” he added.

The squad returns to action after their return from Christchurch, New Zealand last week. Hosts Crusaders hammered the Drua 69-26. The Fijian Drua will have a lot to address this Saturday, especially with the absence of wingers Ponipate Loganimasi and Epeli Momo because of injuries, along with co-captains Frank Lomani and Temo Mayanavanua. What unfolds next will depend on the match-day 23 assembled for this quest at Lautoka.

The Western Force arrived at the Nadi International Airport yesterday. The visitors hope of pushing another win through after their 42-19 over the Queensland Reds in Brisbane, Australia last week. Jackson said the players would be fresh, in light of no training sessions because of weather, and a few days to go until game day.

“Well, they’re going to be fresh. That’s one thing because we haven’t been able to train so in terms of working on, we’ve had a couple of indoor sessions around what we’re after.”

The Drua meet the Force at 4.30pm at Churchill Park this Saturday.
