Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union vice-president (administration and finance) Savenaca Muama believed the changes happening now to the way the Vodafone Deans and Weet-Bix Raluve is administered was much needed.

Speaking to this newspaper during a press conference at the Fiji Rugby Union yesterday, Muamua said the changes were bound to happen given that they wished for the Deans and Raluve to be in line with requirements of World Rugby.

The right decision was to have the FRU on board to sanction the two competitions as it serves as the foundation for Fiji’s rugby talent.

“The interim committee has been administered by World Rugby through Oceania Rugby. We are reviewing our terms of participation, making fresh changes and likewise we’ll be touching on to the constitution in a few weeks time. By the end of the season, this interim committee is overseeing the running of the Deans competition.

“The FSSRU runs the competition through this interim committee so our structure will be used as we’ve got it right down to the remote schools in the country and also in Vanua Levu. There won’t be anymore changes except for the administration which was out forth by the MoE permanent secretary,” he said.

Members of the interim committee included Timoci Bure who is the deputy PS for Education and Taniela Domoni who is the Divisional Education Officer Central.

FSSRU nominees included Muamua, Colati and Navitalai Waiwalu who is the secretary of the FSSRU.

From the Fiji Rakavi perspective, women’s director Cathy Wong, National Development manager Lionel Sanford, incoming general manager high performance Nacanieli Cawanibuka, former Fijiana captain Leilani Burnes and administrator Talemo Waqa who is a regional training manager for World Rugby and Oceania Waqa have been appointed.
