Public Service Commission chairman Luke Rokovada has confirmed the appointment of Parmesh Chand as Fiji’s new Ambassador to Japan.

Mr Chand currently serves as the permanent secretary for the Civil Service.

He replaces Filimoni Waqabaca who returns to Fiji to take up the position of Fiji Development Bank’s (FDB) chief executive officer. Mr Waqabaca’s appointment will be effective from January 15 this year.

While Mr Chand’s appointment has been finalised, Mr Rokovada noted that the date for Mr Chand to assume his new role in Japan has not been determined yet.

“At this stage, it has not been established when Mr Chand will be taking up his position in Japan,” Mr Rokovada stated.
