THE Nadroga Navosa Chamber of Commerce and Industry is exercising caution over the 2025-2026 National Budget.

While welcoming the new tax system, chamber president Suresh Naidu expressed doubt that the Coalition Government would deliver on its promises over the next financial year.

“Although the proposed vision is admirable, doubts persist until the Government shows a steady commitment over an entire fiscal year,” said Mr Naidu.

“Although I appreciate the vision presented in this budget, I still exercise caution.

“We are confident that this Government genuinely means what they claim, and until we observe them maintaining their course for an entire fiscal year.”

Mr Naidu said enhancing land use for farmers should also be a focus.

“With no duty on lamb chops, why not enhance lamb farming since land is vacant and not in use.

“And motivation, appropriate and regulated financing for agriculture, utilisation of unused lands, and simplified processes for renewing or establishing new leases.”

Mr Naidu welcomed the Fiji Roads Authority’s allocation.

“We acknowledge that the 2025-2026 budget has increased funding for the Fiji Road Authority.

“However, we urge proper allocation of resources specifically directed towards improving town roads and enhancing streetlights in the town area.

“These improvements are essential for ensuring the safety and convenience of our community.

“We remain hopeful that the authorities will prioritise these critical needs in their planning and implementation.”
