CEO salaries of 8 government entities put under Higher Salaries Commission

Listen to this article:

Cabinet has agreed that the salaries of chief executive officers of eight Government-controlled entities will now be determined by the Higher Salaries Commission.

This follows Cabinet approval to amend Schedule 1 of the Higher Salaries Commission Act 2023.

The amendment will bring Assets Fiji Pte Limited, Fiji Investment Corporation Limited, Fiji Roads Authority, Investment Fiji, the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji, Oceania Shipbuilding and Engineering Pte Limited, the Public Rental Board, and the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission under the Commission’s oversight.

This move is aimed at ensuring transparency, consistency, and fairness in CEO salary determinations, while standardising remuneration practices, curbing excessive payments, and strengthening accountability across statutory bodies and State-owned entities.
