Day one of the Central Eastern Council of Special & Inclusive Education (CECOSIE) Games began at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva yesterday.

More than 750 students with special needs are part of the two-day event which ends today.

Ten schools are participating in the games, which also has two schools that are inclusive of students with special needs.

According to CECOSIE president Deepak Sanjay Singh, the two schools are Arya Samaj Primary School and Ratu Latianara Primary School.

The event is the second meet after its revival last year following its cancellation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Individual and team sports have been organised for schools to take part in.

Meanwhile, besides the support of the Education Ministry, school heads and parents and guardians, the tournament is backed by Extra Supermarket and McDonalds.

Singh explained the first day was sponsored by Extra and today’s competition would be sponsored by McDonalds.
