THE 2026 McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s in Sigatoka will feature the debut of the New Zealand Fijian Cavaliers, a team eager to showcase their rugby spirit at this prestigious tournament known for bringing together top sevens teams and players.

Led by Former Fiji representative Akuila Matanibukaca and Fiji 7s legend Mr Pio Tuwai, with coaching expertise from NZ 7s greats Eric Rush and Amasio Valence Raoma, the Cavaliers are poised to bring a blend of heart, passion, and a balanced NZ Fijian style to the competition.

Together, this experience team of former legends will be transforming their world class playing experience into professional coaching excellence.

Their combined knowledge, leadership, and understanding of international sevens will be the key strength to the Cavaliers’ preparation, ensuring the team arrives in at the Tournament prepared to face some of the best teams and players in today’s 7s era.

With this coaching leadership, the Cavaliers aim to deliver an energetic, disciplined, and exciting brand of rugby combining New Zealand’s well-known structure with the natural flair and creativity that Fijian rugby is celebrated for around the world.

Tournament Founding Chairman Jay Whyte expressed excitement about the addition of the NZ Fijian Cavaliers to the tournament, noting the special energy and culture they bring to the event.

Fans can expect a structured yet fast, skilful, and disciplined style of play from the Cavaliers, grounded in teamwork, attitude, humility, and respect for the game.

The Coral Coast 7s will be held, January 15-17 next year.
