FICAC still has not provided particulars of alleged loss in its case against two men charged over the tender and purchase of a 3.0L Volkswagen Touareg valued at $207,470.

Former Fijian Broadcasting Corporation CEO, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum faces two counts of abuse of office and one count of general dishonesty causing a loss while current chief financial officer, Vimlesh Sagar is charged with one count of general dishonesty causing a loss.

Ritesh Singh, acting for Mr Sagar, said the failure to provide this vital information will prejudice his client’s constitutional rights so did not want a plea taken until the documents are furnished.

Mr Singh said he had been requesting the documents since last year. However, prosecutor Josann Pene informed Magistrate Joseph Daurewa that FICAC would proceed with the present charges and sought time to furnish the documents requested by the defence.

Mr Daurewa has set a trial date to proceed from November 2 to 6 this year.

FICAC intends to call 25 witnesses and tender 37 sets of documents.

The case has been adjourned to April 23 for plea.
