A 25-year-old-man is in serious condition and is admitted at the Savusavu Hospital after the 12-wheeler cargo truck he was driving veered off the road and tumbled down the hill yesterday near Nabalebale Village, about 20 minutes’ drive from Savusavu Town.

Police, firemen and villagers worked together to rescue the driver who was trapped inside his truck for about five hours.

Family members in Labasa said their son (driver) was on his way to Savusavu from Nabouwalu with a load of food to deliver to supermarkets.

Torn packets of rice, flour, cookies, noodles and bottles of oil were scattered down the hill.
