IT’S not often that you hear about a bartender who is also a spa practitioner.

However, this is exactly what Asenaca Vosarogo does at Duadua Beach Resort in Volivoli, Rakiraki.

The mother of two from Novolau 1 is a hardworking woman who juggles work life and taking care of her family.

She has worked for Duadua for over a year and loves making a difference in the lives of guests who spend their holiday at the resort.

When you enter the resort’s bar, you’d be immediately welcomed by Asenaca. She’ll quickly take your order and mix a tasty drink to help you unwind.

She’s attentive to detail and has the ability to start up a conversation.

“I love what I do because I get to meet new people and get to learn about where they come from,” she said.

Like any bartender or mixologist, she makes sure her drinks keep customers coming back for more.

Popular concoctions she serves include margaritas, the Bartenders mistake, the Duadua sling and the Duadua delight.

Being a certified spa practitioner, Asenaca had to learn the ropes of bartending from scratch. She provides spa services like massages, facial and body therapies for guests who book a session at the resort’s Seniua Spa.

From serving drinks to providing customer service, Asenaca has had to learn to handle cash and also do bar maintenance – making sure the bar is spotless after a day’s work.

She likes her job because it allows her to interact with people.

“Not only do you get to learn about them, they also get the opportunity to know you as well.

“I have a few guests that I’ve treated at the spa who have become my friends. They asked for my details and have added me on WhatsApp so I stay in touch with them, some even come back to visit.

“Like other staff at the resort, make sure our guests have a lovely and unforgettable experience during their stay. Asenaca said she gets job satisfaction when guests commend her work and appreciate the best of Fijian hospitality.

She is grateful to be able to work close to her parents and daughters.

“The resort is not far from Rakiraki (where she resides) and from my village Navolau 1 where my parents live with my two daughters,” she said.

“It’s so convenient for me because at the end of the week I’m able to drop by and visit my parents and daughters.

“Since I work, my parents have taken up the responsibility of taking care of my daughters and in return I make sure that all of their needs are meet at home.

“For me its about making sacrifices for the ones I love and making sure I have a balanced life.”

As a single mum she is content with what she has and hopes her story will inspire her daughters to become strong independent women.
