ENSURING they play their best in the right areas of the field is a point stressed by Swire Shipping Fijian Drua half-back Issak Fines-Leleiwasa ahead of their round two Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific clash against the Waratahs this Friday.

Speaking after the Drua’s 26-40 loss to Moana Pasifika in round one in Lautoka last Saturday, he was disappointed with the result however his emphasis on getting the boxes ticked for the next clash was a firm one.

“I think we’ve just got to play our footy in the right areas of the field,” Fines-Leleiwasa said.

“Look at what we can do with the ball in hand so just controlling our ball and being patient in the right areas.”

Since last week’s loss might be a difficult wound to heal from for the Drua, the former Western Force player has assured fans and spectators of his new side of an improved result this week.

“We showed a lot of good things today (Saturday) so we can focus on that, but we will clean up a few little things before we get to Sydney.”

For him personally, he says playing in the right areas will be a vital area to work on ahead of their next assignment.

“It was a hot day (last Saturday) so being smart and not overworking our forwards but I thought there was some good continuous ball of play there,” he pointed out in their match against Moana Pasifika.

“You can see what we can do with the ball in hand so yes, just focusing on that.”

The Fijian Drua has two days before they meet the Waratahs at the Allianz Stadium in Sydney, Australia.

In leading up to that, co-captain Temo Mayanavanua was firm in what he thought the team needed to deliver on this week.

“We need to start strong; we can’t be relying on a try or a penalty to wake us up,” he said.

The match with the Waratahs kicks off on Friday at 8.35pm.
