Individual play saved the Fiji Airways Men’s 7s from a determined Kenyan side as the Tevita Daugunu-skippered side kick-started their campaign on a positive 31-12 win at the Canada 7s in Vancouver.

Prop Josese Batirerega and replacement player Jeremaia Matana each scored a double while Army giant Anasa Qaranivalu added to the tally.

The Fijians survived the first half brutal encounter and led 12-5.

Herman Humwa and Alvin Otieno scored for the opposition.

Fiji faces Uruguay next at 2.16pm.
