While the Fiji Taxi Association has welcomed Fiji’s COVID-19 free status, it says the nationwide curfew hours should be removed.

Association president Raben Singh said the movement of people would create more jobs for taxidrivers.

“If curfew goes out, it will be better for us,” he said.

Mr Singh said the taxi business had suffered a lot following the COVID-19 cases in Fiji.

“Now we can have some more jobs if gatherings can be allowed.”

Government will announce new health protection measures soon that will include plans to reopen schools and houses of worship, and safe workplace measures.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said the announcement would be made during the soon to be launched careFIJI contact tracing mobile application.
