The Fiji Labour Party has called for the resignation of University of the South Pacific pro-chancellor Winston Thompson.
FLP leader Mahendra Chaudhry said Mr Thompson had lost the confidence of the USP Council, students and staff members of the university.
He also questioned Mr Thompson’s statement that the university’s BDO report was “now history”.
“The BDO report appears to substantiate serious issues raised by Prof Ahluwalia regarding governance and alleged corrupt practices, including huge overpayments to certain staff members well above their salary bands,” he said. “USP needs a thorough clean-up.”
Mr Chaudhry alleged the BDO report said USP’s internal audit service provider had been raising some payroll and human resource issues over the past few years.
